Chotto Matte is an exciting restaurant and bar in Soho that serves Nikkei cuisine; a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian dishes. Having never been to a Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant before and having had recommendations from friends we thought we would check it out!
Nestled slap bang in the middle of Soho, Andrew Edmunds is a quintessential romantic restaurant. Twinkling candles, warm and cosy with chatter a plenty create what makes for a wonderful date and meal in London’s West End.
Here at London Date Guide we understand that vegetarian food isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s becoming increasingly popular in London so it’s worth knowing a few good veggie restaurants in case your date turns out to be one. Luckily London has some of the best vegetarian restaurants around, so in no particular order here are the best vegetarian restaurants in London for a date.
Sitting on Soho’s Archer Street near Piccadilly Circus is the aptly named, ‘Archer Street bar.’ With the fabulous Bocca Di Lupo restaurant across the street and the delicious ice cream parlour ‘Gelupo’ a few doors down, it really is in the perfect spot for a date in the West End.
Sitting halfway along Dean Street in Soho is Dean Street Town House, an upmarket hotel and bistro owned by the Soho House Group serving high quality British fare. It was a Thursday night and packed! The wait for walk in’s was long but luckily I had a table booked.
Even before entering the Townhouse we could feel the buzzing atmosphere resonating from inside the restaurant.
I was making my way back to Tottenham Court Road after seeing a show at The Soho Theatre, when I walked past this delightful and unique French Bistro. What caught not only my eye but also my ears was a bustling and intimate atmosphere wonderfully animated by a live pianist playing at the entrance. Peering through the window, you could sense the buzz and excitement emanating from inside. At that moment, I decided that my next dating venture would have to be, Pierre Victoire!
In my humble opinion, the sign of a good first date is longevity and if you get a kiss at the end of it. Sure this may be a base way of looking at it but once you’ve grown bored of the box ticking and the social analysis, all that matters on a first date is two things: Do you get on? And, do you fancy them? The rest can wait till next time.
Here at London Date Guide we love Halloween, and London always provides the very best Halloween dates around. We’d never heard of Kettner’s before it was recommended by a friend to us but what a find. The restaurant sits right in the heart of theatreland and offers a lovely brasserie and cocktail and champagne bar. The brasserie has a live pianist from Monday to Saturday which really adds to the atmosphere.
Kettner’s was opened in 1867 from four Georgian townhouses and still has an air of nostalgia. It has been remodelled a number of times and now has an air and slight glitz of the 1930s about it.
