Valentine’s Day is upon us yet again and this year falls on a weekend allowing you to take advantage of those precious days off work to spend some quality time with your loved one. A lot of people are adverse to Valentine’s Day due to the mass marketing, tacky gifts and price hikes that surround it however those naysayers should not put you off, (they are usually the tight or lazy ones) there is loads of ways to do it on the cheap. With so much to see and do, Valentine’s date ideas in London are a plenty so you have no excuse!
I’d walked past the Southwark Playhouse a few times before and been sufficiently intrigued but never ventured in. I’m so glad I was finally brought here on a date the other week as it’s a real find. It’s recently been refurbished and so offers a new bar with that trendy urban feel to it and a beautifully intimate theatre.
I was brought on a date to see The 39 Steps after a very long and stressful day at work and I have to admit, I wasn’t really in the mood for a night out. But believe me, this was the absolute perfect pick up.
I have been wanting to see this show ever since its burst into theatreland in 2011. Luckily I ended up coming to see it on a date a few weeks ago and it was definitely worth the wait. It’s been a runaway hit ever since it started in the National Theatre and though it’s changed theatres, it’s never stopped its run.
It’s almost here…the big V Day. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
We realise that Valentine’s Day can be pretty expensive and you feel forced to splash out on cliched dinners, trendy bars or top shows. It doesn’t help either that all the above have been known to hike up their prices for Valentine’s Day as they know people will pay for it. But here at LDG we love a bit of Valentines and we know that most of you will be looking for something a bit different. Here are just a few thoughts for you to mull over…
