We’d never heard of Kettner’s before it was recommended by a friend to us but what a find. The restaurant sits right in the heart of theatreland and offers a lovely brasserie and cocktail and champagne bar. The brasserie has a live pianist from Monday to Saturday which really adds to the atmosphere.
Kettner’s was opened in 1867 from four Georgian townhouses and still has a air of nostalgia. It has been remodelled a number of times and now has an air and slight glitz of the 1930s about it.
Tipped as one of London’s most romantic restaurants, in the heart of the west end in busy covent garden, Clos Maggiores is a sanctuary of romance and calm.
I was taken here on a date and I have to admit, when I first saw the beautiful conservatory, I was pretty awestruck. Split into two different decors, Clos Maggiores starts with a dark, wooden, Edwardian feel to it which although it interesting, is nothing compared to the magic of ivy and twinkling fairy lights in the conservatory.
