Hiding in plain view on a rooftops on the Southbank is ‘The Queen Elizabeth Hall Roof Garden’, One of the prettiest and most peaceful places in the area. If you’re on a date nearby then it is well worth a visit to this secret little haven.

I went here for the first time last week and I wish I’d been here sooner. Set right on the riverfront, the Propstore pops up every summer and is literally built of old props from National Theatre productions whilst also using them as decorations all over the bar. It’s open as a cafe bar, with seats indoors and then spilling right out onto the South Bank.
I’ve been on many a date to Somerset House so I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to include it. Believe me, it truly deserves its spot here on LDG.
This beautiful historic palace is an arts and cultural hotspot and handily sits right on the Strand. Whatever time of year you visit; you won’t help but be impressed by the sheer size and beauty of the place. In summer there are dancing fountains in the courtyard whilst in the winter you’ll find one of our favourite ice rinks in London.
My date and I stumbled across this hidden gem when we were looking for somewhere quiet to eat amongst the overcrowded chain restaurants in the West End’s theatreland.
If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to dine at the Faulty Towers Hotel with Basil, Sybil and Manuel then this is the perfect opportunity.
Your evening will start in the bar where you will be enjoying a drink when you suddenly notice out of the corner of your eye that Basil Faulty is in the corner swearing at Manuel for doing something wrong. It’s now that you’ll notice Sybil gradually working her way around the room, smoozing with the guests and unleashing that machine gun laugh of hers.
