Rules Restaurant at Christmas

Famed as being the oldest restaurant in London, Rules is hidden on a backstreet behind Covent Garden market.

As soon as you enter, you’ll notice the warm and wonderfully old-fashioned atmosphere, not to mention the professionalism of the staff. Though impressive at all times of the year, it’s at Christmas that Rules has that special buzz about it when it’s decked out in old-fashioned Christmas fayre.

Rules Restaurant

We recommend you arriving early to soak up the atmosphere in the upstairs bar where you will be served sweet and salted mixed nuts while you enjoy a cocktail or two. We particularly love the Rules Royal cocktail which includes sugared rose petals. If you get chatting to the Mixologist, you may well be offered a bespoke cocktail made especially to suit your taste.

The menu offers a wide selection of pies, oysters, fish and puddings, but the restaurant specialises particularly in game so it’s unsurprising that the Game Season plays a key role to what is offered during different times of the year.

Though on the pricier end of our restaurant selection, Rules has become a firm favourite which we treat ourselves to every Christmas. Try it on a December evening, we’re sure you won’t regret it.
