Having a panoramic view over London with a drink in hand is the perfect way to spend a summer’s day, evening or both. There’s no denying that London at a great height shows London at its most beautiful. But these views usually come with a premium price which is why LDG has got you covered. We’ve only included the bars that are well worth the price, and best of all, offer that little something extra…
Franks Campari Bar – Peckham
By far our favourite rooftop bar is Franks Cafe & Campari Bar. Situated on top of a multi-story car Park in Peckham and offering one of the best views of London from south of the river, Franks is both an excellently priced bar and a unique summer experience. It’s only open for a few months of the year which means we always make sure to make the most of it when it’s here. You can play ping pong on one of the many tables whilst enjoying the sunshine and sipping a Negroni. They also serve up great bar snacks and have art installations dotted around. You know summer has begun when Franks’s opens its doors so don’t miss it this year; you’ll regret it when you have to wait another year to experience it.

Queen of Hoxton – Shoreditch
This popular Shoreditch bar stands out from the crowd by its large and lovely rooftop bar which is open all year round thanks to a giant wigwam and multiple camp fires. It provides a buzzing atmosphere and is big enough that you can always find a spot to perch and enjoy the view. Our favourite date here is when the Queen of Hoxton plays host to the Rooftop Film Club in the summer.

Dalston Roof Park – Dalston
Recently reopened for the summer, Dalston Roof Park is more of a pretty garden complete with flowers and plants where you can also enjoy a drink in the sunshine. Background bars, a pop up bar and events company have set up shop here and taken inspiration for their cocktails from the venue’s edible garden. The unique combinations include fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs mixed with a variety of teas such as Oolong, green tea, Earl Grey and English breakfast. Dalston Roof Park also offers a beautiful view of London and is as green as it can get, complete with solar panels on the roof which heat the building and events. You’ll feel virtuous just coming here.

Grand Union – Kennington
The Grand Union in Kennington is a relaxed and comfy place to while away a summer’s afternoon. By far the best thing about it is the south facing rooftop bar which provides all day sunshine. It also serves up tasty cocktails and good burgers, all for a reasonable price. It’s also worth checking out the Grand Union bar in Brixton which has a pretty beer garden and is big enough so you can always find a seat.

The Red Lion – Shoreditch
This charming pub sitting just around the corner from Hoxton Square is slightly off the beaten track for the normal party goers so has a more relaxed feel to it. It has a small roof terrace but with its comfy vibe, well priced drinks and great food, it’s a firm favourite of ours.

Golden Bee – Shoreditch
Nestled down a side street just off Old Street, Golden Bee is a cocktail bar with a hip and stylish rooftop bar. Walk up the spiral staircase and you’ll find a comfy lounge surround by trees, providing a great escape from the city. There’s a good selection of drinks and it’s in the perfect location to move on to one of the Shoreditch clubs if it takes your fancy.
