Maltby Street Market

We love a food market, and Maltby Street Market in Bermondsey is one of our favourites for a foodie date. It’s the kind of place where a couple of drinks or a plate of tapas can easily lead to a whole day of eating, drinking and wandering.

A good place to start is from the top of Maltby Street, walking down towards Spa Road, where another cluster of market vendors is based. A word of warning though – it’s easy to get lost between the two – so make sure you bring this map with you..

Though it’s entirely possible to spend the day grazing at lots of different stalls, the wine bar at 40 Maltby Street (also called 40 Maltby Street) provides an ideal stop for a more substantial lunch. There’s a small menu here that changes every week and a selection of three or four small plates provides an ample and very delicious lunch for two. The wine selection at 40 Maltby Street is superb and as with the food, always changing.

Maltby Street Market is ideal for a relaxed Saturday date and will go down especially well with any foodies.
