If you fancy a cinema date but are looking for something a bit different, check out what’s on at the BFI. A trendy and stylish setting, the BFI plays new and old classics.
Start your date at the quirky BFI bar which has a 1970s feel to it with stand up lamps and sofas that you sink into. It gets very busy at the weekends but it’s big enough that you can usually find a seat if you want to.
When you’ve enjoyed a few get-to-know-you drinks, you can make your way into the cinema which you’ll be pleased to hear has some of the comfiest seats around. We went on a date at the BFI to see Hitchcock’s Vertigo which was just brilliant on the big screen. The only bad point about the BFI screens are that the seats weren’t on a steep slope so if you’re sitting behind someone with a big head you might have some trouble seeing the whole screen.
There’s usually a food market on at the Southbank so if you fancy a bite to eat or some drinks before or after your film, stop off there and enjoy the atmosphere. In winter you’ll find mulled wine and spiced cider whilst in summer you can get a refreshing Pimms and lemonade.
The 56th BFI London Film festival starts in October, why not make a date of it!
